Day 01 : Siliguri/Bagdogra to Darjeeling (83 Km./ 3 hrs) :
On arrival at Bagdogra airport or Siliguri (NJP) railway station meet our representative, who will assist & give you briefing about your tour at the time of arrival & drive to the to Darjeeling (6,710 ft /2,050 mts , 77 Kms / 03 Hrs) through Hillcart road. The journey to Darjeeling follows all along the forested hills, small villages and beautiful tea gardens. On the way you will have a chance to see the famous Toy train running through the lush green tea gardens & undulating hills. The Queen of hills - greets you with all its grandeur of mountains ranges and valleys dotted with tea gardens and forests along with a blend of traditional heritage and modern cultures. We advised a relaxed evening and short walk around the Mall to enjoy the typical Hill life of Darjeeling in a painted landscape. Enjoy a comfortable overnight stay at hotel.
Day 02 : Darjeeling sightseeing :
We proceed early morning (around 4 am) towards Tiger Hill to experience the breath taking view of sunrise over Mt.Kanchandzonga (28,200 ft.) , Kabru , Pandim & the Everest range on the far horizon . On the way back visit Ghoom Monastery & Batasia Loop. After breakfast proceed for a half day excursion to Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) & Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (Thursday closed), Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center ,Peace Pagoda, Japanese Temple, Tea garden (outer view),Tenzing Rock, etc. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the mountain ranges while roaming through Darjeeling Mall.
Tiger Hill: Situated 13 kilometers from the town at an altitude of 2590 meters (8482 ft.), has earned international fame for its magnificent view of the sunrise over the "Kanchanjunga" and the great eastern Himalayan peaks. Even Mount Everest, the world's highest peak, is visible from here.
Ghoom Monastery: On the way back from Tiger hill we will visit the Ghoom Monastery on the Ghoom spur. This monastery is one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries in India, 12 ft high statue of Lord Buddha Built in 1875 by Lama Sherab Gyatso. The specialty of this monastery is that it contains the statue of the 'Future Coming Buddha' known as Maitreye Buddha.
Batasia Loop and War Memorial: Aboard the Toy Train from Siliguri to Darjeeling just below Ghoom and 5 kms from Darjeeling is the Batasia Loop , an engineering marvel and feat. Almost imperceptibly, the railway line negotiates a circle and descends 1,000 ft in altitude. From Batasia - windy place - one can watch a great view of Darjeeling perched on the slopes of hills and Mt. Kanchenjunga in the far horizon.
Padma Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park: Established on the 14th of August, 1958, the zoo was dedicated to the memory of Padmaja Naidu, former Governor of West Bengal on the 21st November, 1975. Considered as one of the best zoos in the country, it is the only centre that breeds the tibetan wolf in captivity. Breeding programmes for the endangered red panda, snow leopard and the siberian tiger are also carried out at PNHZP. The zoo is open on all days except on Thursdays and other national holidays.
H.M.I: The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute was set up by the local hero Tenzing Norgay Sherpa following their successful ascent on Mount Everest on 28 May 1953 . The oldest mountaineering institute in the country carries out various mountaineering courses every year. Apart from Tenzing, legendary mountaineers like Nawang Gombu ( First man to climb Everest twice ) and Lattoo Dorjee Sherpa have helped build the reputation of this pioneering institute. The institute is presently under the purview of the Ministry of Defense, Government of India.
Tea Garden: Approximately 40 minutes walking distance from Darjeeling bazaar, you can see and feel the real tea plantations of famous Darjeeling tea that called Happy Valley.
Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center : After His Holiness escaped from Tibet, thousands of Tibetan refugees came to reside in India. Darjeeling too became a home away from home for the Tibetans in exile. Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Centre established on October 1, 1959 and the residents of the centre are today known for their beautiful handicrafts e.g excellent carpets, woolen goods, woodwork, etc, which are famous across the globe.
Day 03 : Darjeeling to Pelling (Pemayangtse) Via - Melli - Jorthang (85 km / 3 hrs):
After breakfast we will proceed to Pelling in West Sikkim. The journey runs through the winding road cutting across the valleys, hills and villages and follows the course of Tista River and then beautiful Rangit River till Legship. We will take a refreshing break at the view point near Melli to watch the magnificent confluence of Rangit & Teesta rivers. From Legship the road takes a steep turn upto Geyzing. The view of the entire surrounding widens as you precede towards Pelling a small tourist hub in the West Sikkim hills known for serene holy lakes, old Monasteries and pristine landscape. Pelling sprawled at 6100ft (1830M) offers one of the spectacular views of the Mount Khangchendzonga, the Guardian Deity of Sikkim and the worlds third highest mountain along with other mountains of the range. Pelling is an ideal getaway for tourists as its vicinity has numerous waterfalls, small trek routes, villages and beautiful landscape.
Day 04 : Pelling sightseeing:
We start our sightseeing tour with Pemayangtse Monastery - one of the premier monasteries in the State. Originally established by Lhatsun Chempo, one of the revered Lamas to have performed the consecration ceremony of the first Chogyal of Sikkim. The most astounding feature of the monastery is a painted wooden structure of Zantho Pelri - the Heavenly Palace of Guru Rinpoche. It os located on a hill top at an altitude of 6840 ft. commands a magnificent panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges and the surrounding hills and country-side. From here we will proceed to the legendary Kechopalri Lake, it is one of the holy Buddhist lake and it is believed that any wish in front of the lake comes true - Myth is that when a leaf falls on the placid clear water surface, it is picked by a bird and thus the water surface is always free of leaves. On the way we will also visit Kunchenjungha Falls and Rimbi Falls two magnificent perennial waterfalls of the state .After lunch at Peeling we drive for a hour to Dentham Valley and visit Tsangey Falls . Also visit Sinsore Bridge - the highest bridge in Sikkim. Back to Pelling in the afternoon and have a relaxed evening watching the sunset over the Mighty Khangchendzonga from your Hotel. Evening free to roam around the helipad or Shopping centre.
Day 05 : Pelling to Siliguri /Bagdogra (145 km. / approx 6 hrs):
After completing a farewell party we will drive back to Siliguri (NJP)/ Bagdogra (IXB) via same route for your onward journey with happy memories to cherish.
